ABOUT US
Dark Ocean Games began in 2020 as a personal game development project founded by Fabio G. Thomas. What started as a way to study and understand the fundamentals of game design and development soon grew into something much bigger.
The studio’s first project, The Midnight Town Stories, was created primarily as a learning experience. Throughout its development, Fabio’s passion for game creation continued to grow, leading to new ideas, new challenges, and increasingly ambitious projects.
That evolution first led to the creation of Operação Prato, followed by The Earth Is Flat, allowing the studio to explore different approaches to storytelling, gameplay, atmosphere, visual design, and game development.
Today, The Earth Is Flat continues to move forward in development, with its demo currently available in Closed Beta to supporters of the project, ahead of its wider public release.

Despite moving forward with new projects, there was always a strong desire to return to The Midnight Town Stories and rebuild the original experience using everything that had been learned over the years. Development eventually began on a full remake.
However, as development progressed and the project expanded both technically and creatively, it became clear that the new ideas had grown far beyond the scope of the original game.
Rather than simply remaking the past, Dark Ocean Games decided to create something entirely new.
That decision gave birth to Where The Lost Remain, a psychological survival horror experience that represents a major step forward for the studio in storytelling, gameplay design, visual direction, technology, and overall production ambition.

Although Erico Santili officially joined Dark Ocean Games in 2026, his involvement with the studio began much earlier. Over the years, Erico supported and contributed to several Dark Ocean Games projects, including The Midnight Town Stories and The Earth Is Flat, becoming a long-standing collaborator before formally joining the company.
In 2026, Dark Ocean Games entered a new chapter, evolving from its original solo-driven structure into a collaborative company with four partners. Diego Snow, Zack Damasc, and Erico Santili officially joined founder Fabio G. Thomas, bringing together different backgrounds, skills, and areas of expertise across game development, programming, art, animation, audio, design, and production.
With operations across Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Latin America, Dark Ocean Games has grown into an international independent studio built around collaboration and a shared passion for creating memorable interactive experiences.
While storytelling, atmosphere, and emotionally driven experiences remain an important part of our identity, Dark Ocean Games is not limited to a single genre or style of game. We believe every project should have its own identity, gameplay philosophy, and creative direction — whether it is horror, narrative-driven, experimental, action-oriented, or something entirely different.
What began as a project to learn how games are made has grown into a shared ambition:
to create worlds, explore new ideas, tell meaningful stories, and build games that players will remember long after they stop playing.
